Nike Tiempo Legend 9 Review
I can always appreciate a classic football boot – and thats exactly what you get with Tiempo Legend 9. The Legend 9 serves as the latest iteration of Nikes well established Tiempo line. This model has always been focused on the fundamentals. Nike has stayed true to the formula that has made this boot a fan favorite, with an all leather upper and a simple design.
The Legend 9 even removes several bells and whistles from the Legend 8, in order to focus on nailing the fundamentals. Having played in these boots for several weeks, I can assure you that they live up to the Tiempo name.

Classic style revisited with the Tiempo Legend 9
The Tiempo Legend 9 is available in a variety of colorways (seen in the ‘Recharge’ color pack above). The design is simple from a textural standpoint, focusing on highlighting the kangaroo leather upper.
Nike have made some new design changes, most notably adding soft foam pods across the toe box and sides of the upper. These additional padded areas help achieve a cushioned touch on the ball.
The style stays consistent with both the Elite and the Pro models for the Legend 9. The Elite model has a slightly lighter kangaroo leather upper, while the Pro features a calfskin leather upper. From an aesthetic and stylistic standpoint, the Tiempo Legend 9 pulls off a subtle and minimal look.
The Tiempo Legend 9s have been great to play in from a comfort standpoint. There was a break in period of about 2 days where my the shoe was adjusting to my heel shape, and after that it was just smooth sailing.
Leather boots are great at adapting to your feet, and the Legend 9s are no different. However, unlike other leather boots (Adidas Copa Mundial, Nike Premier), the Legend 9s feel lighter on my feet and more agile for dribbling.
The boot also features an elasticated mesh tongue over the mid foot. In my opinion this tongue helps the boot be flexible for varying foot types. I ordered these in my usual 10.5 US size and had no issues with fit. I suggest ordering true to size for the Tiempo Legend 9s.
I have been playing with the Tiempo Legend 9s at a lot over the last six months. They have held up very well over this period. The upper is still perfectly intact with no damage to the leather. There is a slight separation between the sole plate and the rest of the boot, but that often occurs when playing frequently on harder surfaces such as artificial grass.
The sole inserts did become loose after several wears so I made sure to glue them down to avoid them shifting while playing. Also, be sure to get the Legend 9s with the AG stud pattern if you plan to play mostly on artificial grass.
You can pick up a pair of the Tiempo Legend 9s over at World Soccer Shop. If you’re shopping on a budget, the Tiempo Legend 9 Pro is almost as good as the elite model despite costing half the price.

The Nike Tiempo Legend 9 may be one of my favorite boots from the Nike line-up. The boots are comfortable without sacrificing a nimble feel and touch. Let’s hope Nike can keep delivering this quality with future models.
