The Nike Premier 3 is one of my favorite pairs of football boots. It’s a boot that I personally wore throughout my last season. At just $110, the Premier 3 is the best value kangaroo leather football boot there is.

What makes the Premier 3 great is that it combines the materials and build quality of a vintage leather boot, with the modern silhouette of a speed boot. This helps you get the best of both worlds in terms of comfort and performance.

The Premier 3 has little to no break in time, and the soft leather upper is accomodating for players with slightly wider feet. They even come with an iconic fold over tongue to help cover the laces.

Nike Mercurial Vapor 15 Academy

I haven’t always been a fan of take down models for Nike football boots. That’s because the sub $100 models never seem to bear any resemblance to the $250 Elite model that they’re based on. However, Nike has been seriously upping their game recently. The Mercurial Vapor 15 Academy is testament to that.

The Vapor 15 Academy has a relatively thin upper that feels responsive and comfortable on feet. It doesn’t deliver the same barefoot sensation as the Elite model, but it still delivers a modern fit and feel.

More impressively, Nike has managed to include the new Air Zoom unit inside the sole plate of the Vapor 15 Academy. This new tech from Nike helps provide an added energy return with every step you take. The stud pattern is also very modern, featuring a mixed ground layout that works on every playing surface.

Nike Tiempo Legend 9 Academy

Up next is another Nike take down model, the Tiempo Legend 9 Academy. I can’t say enough good things about the Tiempo Legend 9 series. All of the models, from the $230 Elite model to the $75 Academy model, are fantastic.

One of the main reasons that this boot is so great is because of its simplicity. The Legend 9 Academy is a comfortable leather football boot with built in foam pods to enhance your touch on the ball. The only noticeable difference between the Academy and the Elite model is that the more expensive model ships with Kangaroo leather.

For just $75, the quality of the leather in the Legend 9 Academy still delivers amazing value. If you like the look of this new Tiempo line but don’t want to break the bank, this boot is a great entry level model.

Similar to Nike, i’m not always impressed by the take down models offered from Adidas. However, the Adidas Copa Sense.3 is an exception. At a reduced price of just $60, this is also the most affordable boot on this list.

For that price, you’re still getting a comfortable leather upper that has a great feel on feet. The mesh synthetic tongue provides solid ankle support and it stretches to the shape of your foot well.

The sole plate on the Copa Sense.3 is also solid, with rounded studs that will work on both firm ground and artificial grass. For the price, this is a tremendosuly reliable football boot.

Puma Ultra Ultimate

The Puma Ultra Ultimate is the most premium boot on this list. Despite launching at a price of $199, the Ultra Ultimate has since fallen all the way down to $119 in price. There’s no other boots on the market that delivers the same high end materials for this price.

Puma have implemented their ultraweave upper on the Ultra Ultimate, and it’s one of the most minimal uppers ever made. This upper is coated with their grip control material to provide more traction on the ball as well.

At 6.8 ounces, the Ultra is possibly the lightest speedboot ever manufactured. For players who are looking for a barefoot sensation on the field, the Puma Ultra Ultimate is definitely the way to go.

If there’s one brand that’s absolutely been killing their takedown models, it’s Puma. The Puma Future 2.4 is so good that it’s almost indistinguishable from the top end Future 1.4.

The synthetic upper on the Future 2.4 feels almost sock-like in the way it wraps around your foot. Puma have added their fusion fit band in the midfoot to ensure you have the most lockdown possible. The sole plate has aggressive half-moon studs, just like the Future 1.4.

New Balance isn’t always the first name that comes to mind when choosing football boots, but they’ve been seriously upping their game recently. The New Balance 442 V2 Pro is actually one of the most solid leather boots on the market.

For close to $129, you’re getting a kangaroo leather football boot with the build quality of something twice the price. The leather is soft and stitched together seamlessly, while the suede inner lining provides a really comfortable fit.
