Nike Premier 3 – Review
Nike Premier 3 – Full Video Review
Nike is back with a brand new boot in their successful Premier line. The original Nike Premier along with the Premier 2 gained wide praise for their simplicity and great value. With the Premier 3, Nike has continued to focus on what made this boot great in the first place. The core design and materials used in the Premier 3 remain the same, with a few modern updates added. In this review, we’ll go through all the features of the Nike Premier 3 to see if it’s a good fit for you.
Below are the elements of the Nike Premier 3 that we’ll be going over in this article.
- Design
- Comfort and Feel
- Modern Style
- Stud Pattern
- Value
Classic & Timeless Design
The kangaroo leather upper continues to be the star of the show with the Premier 3. Compared to other popular leather cleats like the Copa Mundial and Tiempo Legend, the Premiers definitely have the softest leather I have ever felt in a football boot.
Stitching throughout the upper is minimal, which helps create a smooth surface for striking the ball. The sole plate has conical studs that are less aggressive than those on more modern boots, but still provide enough traction for firm ground fields.
In addition to the classic black and white design, Nike has created several new colorways for the Premier 3. You will be able to buy the boots in University Red, Signal Blue, and this stunning Pure Platinum colorway.
Premium Comfort
With most football boots, you have to endure a break in process before they finally fit your feet. I can say that with the Nike Premier 3, they feel as good as they ever will straight out of the box. This is due to the upper being crafted with high quality kangaroo leather.
The Premier 3 is also a great option for wide-footed players, as the leather can stretch across the mid-foot and toe-box. The lacing provides great lockdown to make sure the boot is tight where you need it to be. The Premier 3 is very accommodating, regardless of your foot type. I recommend going true to size if you decide to order your own pair.
Great for All Playing Surfaces
The Premier 3 is a solid choice for playing on artificial grass fields due to the conical studs. The rounded shape of the studs make them less likely to get stuck on the turf and result in injury. So if you’re a player who plays on a mix of FG and AG fields, the Premier is a great option from a safety standpoint.
The studs are also slightly shorter compared to those on the Mercurials and Phantoms. This will make them slightly less aggressive for accelerating and changing direction, but the difference shouldn’t be noticeable for most players.
Modern Touch
Don’t be fooled by the slightly old school approach that Nike has taken with the Premier 3s. The kangaroo leather upper actually provides a remarkably close touch on the ball. At only 8.6 ounces, the Premier 3s are also lighter than several other top end boots.
In addition to feeling light on feet, the Premier 3 has a streamlined fit through the mid-foot. This helps reduce bulk and gives you a responsive feeling while playing. The boots come with a vintage fold over tongue, similar to previous models. However, Nike has included a cut line on the inside of the tongue in case you want to remove it. So if you’re interested in getting a more modern look, feel free to go without the tongue.
Top of the Line Value
Usually when you go to buy a top of the line football boot, you end up spaying upwards of $200. This makes the $110 retail price of the Premier 3 a stand out deal. For just over one hundred dollars, you get a boot with premium kangaroo leather and exceptional build quality. If you’re looking for a fairly minimal football boot that fits well and doesn’t break the bank, the Nike Premier 3 is a great choice.
